There is a Bird on Your Head!
Willems, M. (2013). There is a Bird on Your Head! London: Walker Books.
From the critically acclaimed series, Elephant & Piggie, comes There is a Bird on Your Head!, which is a Geisel award winner. In this installment, Piggie and Gerald are resting blissfully when a tiny bird lands on Gerald's head. This upsets him very much and wants the birdie off his head. Unfortunately the bird has other plans. Not only does her mate land on Gerald's head but they build a nest and lay 3 eggs in it as well! After the eggs hatch, Gerald is stuck with a nest and 5 birds on his head. He is at a loss for what to do until good old Piggie gives him the simple advice of asking the birds to move off his head. Gerald does this and the birds happily comply. They find a new, comfy place to live which happens to be on Piggie's head.
Much like the other books in the Elephant and Piggie series, this book is a gem. Gerald and Piggie are so lovable and effortlessly amusing. Children and adults will be absolutely charmed by this book. I recommend this book for early readers ages 5-7.
