It’s a Book
Smith, L. (2011). It’s a Book. NY: Roaring Brook.
It's a Book is the simple story of a monkey trying to explain the cool new device he is looking at to his friend the donkey. The thing is it's not the latest or trendiest technological device. It is simply a book. The donkey has a bit of a hard time understanding the concept of a book but once he begins reading he is hooked.
While I did find this book greatly amusing, I wondered recommend this to any young child. It may appear to be a silly children's picture book, but in the end the monkey refers to the donkey in an off color way which may not be appropriate for younger reader. I would recommend this book for readers 9 and up.
