Babymouse: Queen of the World!
Holm, J. L., & Holm, M. (2005). Babymouse: Queen of the World! New York: Random House.
In this graphic novel from the Baby mouse series of books, we meet Babymouse, an adorable girl whose wildly imaginative and incredible sassy. Babymouse is bored with her mundane life and is looking for some excitement. She hears about a very exclusive slumber party that Felicia Furrypaw’s is throwing and she will do anything to get an invite. The slumber party is the same night as the monster movie marathon she is supposed to go to with her best friend Wilson. While she finally gets invited to the party after compromising her fierce personality, she finds herself bored to tears with the popular girls she was dying to be friends with. This lesson teaches her about what true friends really are.
This book has definite appeal to preteen girls with the cutesy protagonist and the pink color scheme of the book's illustrations. I really enjoyed Babymouse's imagination and her wild day dreams throughout the graphic novel. I would recommend this book for ages 8 and up.
